Centre users in Harrow get drama classes
Elderly and disabled people at daycare centres were given a moment in the spotlight when they learnt showbiz skills this week.
Users of Harrow Neighbourhood Resource Centres were given a drama masterclasses as part of a programme of activities organised by Harrow Borough Council.
All were given the chance to learn ballet, musical-theatre and singing as part of the sessions at centres, which are used by people with disabilities or learning difficulties.
Director of adult social care, Bernie Flaherty, said: “I think it is important that people get the opportunity to try new things.
“It always amazes me to see how some people really come out of their shell when they take part in anything where music and dance is involved.
“It is wonderful to see how enthusiastic the service users are in taking part and how rewarding these sessions are. I have already been told they want another masterclass organised as soon as possible.”
