TIME is running out to inspect Bromley Council’s spending.
Under rules made in 2011 designed to increase ‘armchair auditing’ and investigation, anyone can inspect and make copies of local government accounts within a 20-day period.
The documents are available to inspect between 10am and 4pm each weekday until next Monday (September 2) in the reception area at the Civic Centre in Stockwell Close, Bromley.
Local Government Secretary Eric Pickles announced the revised regulations two years ago which allow members of the public to see council payments under £500 without having to submit a freedom of information request.
Payments over £500 are published by each local authority’s website.
