Family suffers taxi crash on way back from holiday on M25 at Leatherhead
Firefighters had to cut the roof off a taxi yesterday to rescue a mother trapped inside.
The silver taxi was in collision with a lorry as the family travelled back from Heathrow Airport after a holiday.
Firefighters were called to the crash between junction 9, to Leatherhead, and junction 10 on the M25 at 11am on Tuesday, August 27.
Leatherhead watch manager Steve Smith said they used cutters to remove the roof and free the mother who was suffering from back pain.
Mr Smith said he had to escort the upset father and two boys away from the car several times.
He said: "They were worrying about their mother and wife, but we needed space to work. It’s important for health and safety."
He said they closed two of four lanes, adding: "Traffic was building up a little bit."
