Pictured: Gravesend performer nearly turns face inside out for world record
BLOODIED but victorious this Gravesend performer has nearly turned his face inside out to write his name into the record books.
Chris Snipp, 25, is now in the Guinness Book of Records after lifting 15.8kg of weights on a chain threaded through his nose and mouth for an agonising seven seconds.
The child mental health services worker personally raised £300 for EllenorLions Hospice by the feat which he performed in his guise as stage performer Citizen Snipp.
Titled The Heaviest Weight Lifted by Mentalfloss, Chris had to thread a chain, with links 1cm wide and 1.9cm long, up his nostril, through his nasal cavity and out of his mouth.
Eltham-born Chris recently moved to Mackenzie Way in Gravesend with his fiancé Tanya Coulson, 21, whose stage name is Sub-Chronic.
He told News Shopper the record-breaking performance during a Red Neck Night of entertainment at the Red Lion pub in Gravesend on May 11, was "not a pleasant experience".
He said: "The first thing someone said to me when I came off stage was ‘you look like your face is going to turn inside out.
"It was a little bit uncomfortable but it was fantastic to do. Getting a Guinness World Record is a big achievement for me and to raise a bit of money was great as well.
"I think Tanya’s main concern was that my face didn’t end up coming off but other than that she was very proud."
Chris and his group SDR Entertainment are putting on another Red Neck Night at the Red Lion on November 16 after the last one raised £1,600. Find the group on Facebook for more information.
