81-year-old kicked in head in 'violent assault' on train near Bromley South
AN ELDERLY man was kicked in the head by a man on a train near Bromley South.
British Transport Police (BTP) has launched an investigation after the 81-year-old victim was attacked on July 19 and suffered severe swelling and a possible fracture to his left cheek.
Officers have released images of the man they believe might have information about the incident.
PC Clive Thomas said: “The elderly man had been travelling onboard a London Victoria to Orpington service when the incident happened.
“A man boarded at Penge East with his girlfriend and a short while into the journey this man accused the 81-year-old victim of staring at him.
“Heated words were exchanged before the man jumped from his seat and delivered a fierce punch to the victim’s head.
"He then went on to kick him in the head before leaving the train at Bromley South station with his girlfriend.”
He added: “This was a violent and frightening assault on an elderly man who was on his way to visit his grandchildren and has left him feeling shaken and vulnerable.”
Anyone with information should contact BTP on 0800 40 50 40 quoting background reference B2/LSA of 20/08/2013 or charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
