The fire which ripped through a banqueting suite in Walthamstow in the early hours of the morning is now out, the London Fire Brigade has confirmed.
The Pavillion, in Hoe Street, which specialises in Asian weddings, went up in smoke shortly after 1am.
Around 50 people were evacuated as a precaution from nearby homes.
Thick acrid smoke could be seen rising from the suite, which lies behind the shop front near Third Avenue.
Police closed Hoe Street for several hours while firefighters tackled the blaze.
A specialist aerial appliance was brought in from Tottenham to tackle the fire from above the shop fronts as access was proving difficult.
A jet of water could be seen pouring from the high-rise appliance high above the rooftops, being directed into the heart of the fire.
London Fire Brigade said half of the first floor of the building and at least half of the roof was on fire.
Although the fire is now out, the fire brigade said it would have crews on the scene all day damping down the area.
