A new supermarket opening in Brixton Hill this month will celebrate its launch with a donation to Kids’ City.

Jackie Nunns, CEO of Kids’ City and children who benefit from the charity, will be the guests of honour when the new Tesco Express store opens on Friday 30th August on Brixton Hill. Jackie and the children will be invited to cut a ribbon to declare the new store officially open.

Store manager, Ank Patel and his team will present Kids’ City with a cheque for £500 as part of its commitment to supporting the local community.

Kids’ City provide after school clubs, breakfast clubs and holiday play schemes for children aged between 3 and 11 years old. The organisation also provide volunteering, employment and training opportunities for adults living in areas of high unemployment.

Tesco Express store manager, Ank said: “We are delighted to be able to support Kids’ City, as they do such a wonderful work for the local community.

"We are really pleased that Jackie and the children are coming to launch the new store and join in the celebrations with us.

"My team and I are looking forward to welcoming our customers into the new store and we hope that Tesco will become a key part of the local community.”

The doors of the new Tesco Express on Brixton Hill open for the first time at 8am on Friday 30th August, with the official opening ceremony and cheque presentation taking place later that morning at 10.30am.

Store opening hours will be seven days a week from 6am until 11pm, and for added convenience the store will have a free cash point, National Lottery Counter, self-service tills, bakery, mobile top-up facilities, beers, wines and spirits, in addition to free customer parking.

There will also be a Click and Collect service where customers can order online or on the phone, from home, and pick up in store – everything from buggies to bikes.
