Officers in Lambeth are appealing for information and witnesses to a violent assault.

The incident occurred on Wednesday 3 July at 22:45hrs near to the Tax file Office, 25 Thurlow Park Road, SE21.

The victim, a 79year old man had alighted a bus by the Tulse Hill Tavern and began walking north along Thurlow Park Road.

He noticed a man and woman together on the pavement. The man was looking angry and appeared to be threatening the woman. The Victim was worried about the woman and asked her if she was alright. The woman did not reply but the man aggressively told the victim to go away.

The Victim walked away but the man followed him shouting. When he reached the Victim he punched him causing serious facial injuries.

Two members of the public assisted the victim and took him to hospital where he was treated and later discharged.

The suspect is male and is described as Mediterranean/Middle eastern in appearance, slim build around 5”8ft in his mid twenties. He had dark coloured cropped hair. He was wearing dark coloured clothes and a high visibility waist coat. He was carrying a square red coloured bag across his back.

The woman is described as Oriental, 5”6ft, very small build, wearing dark coloured clothes. She was carrying a white handbag.

Police are keen to trace anyone in the area who may have seen or heard something. Are you able to identify the couple?
