Mabel Letty Packwood celebrates 100th birthday in Tottenham
The secret to living a long life is no worries and no men, according to a woman who celebrated her 100th birthday this week.
Mabel Letty Packwood rang in her centenary on Tuesday, August 13, at the Priscilla Wakefield Nursing Care Home, in Rangemoor Road, Tottenham.
She received a card from the Queen and a visit from the Mayor of Haringey, Councillor Sheila Peacock, to mark her special day.
Ms Packwood was born and raised in Hornsey and was described by staff as being funny but quiet.
Caroline Murphy, the care home’s general manager, and the rest of the staff organised a birthday party for the 100-year-old.
She said: “She is really happy with the card from the Queen and the visit from the mayor.
“Her husband died during the Second World War and she never remarried so she has no children but she is a really fun person.
“According to her, the secret to living a long life is no worries, no men and lots of tea.”
