A TEENAGER from Sidcup is hoping to follow in the footsteps of Cindy Crawford after reaching the finals of a top modelling competition.

Rose Fox, 18, was scouted by Elite Model Management and was asked to take part in the bootcamp and final of Elite Model Look.

Previous winners of the internationally renowned competition include Cindy Crawford, Lily Cole, Stephanie Seymour and Gisele Bundche.

Miss Fox was one of thousands of young girls trying their luck to be the next big name in high fashion when she attended the five-day bootcamp in London with 20 other finalists, which ended with a final catwalk in front of top industry professionals.

The Townley Grammar School student told News Shopper: "It was incredible.

"During the week we had confidence coaching, a nutrition session, plenty of catwalk training, a session at Pineapple Dance Studios in Covent Garden, with a choreographer.

"We also had castings with casting directors of Mulberry and Asos.

"These were all amazing opportunities which I believe made me a much stronger and knowledgeable person."

The teenager says her experience at the boot camp in Islington taught her a lot about the industry and she has realised confidence is the key to success.

She added: "If you seem nervous and don't believe in yourself then why would potential clients believe in you?

"Confidence gets you half way to achieving your goals."

But with an offer to study statistics and finance at the London School of Economics on the horizon, it seems modelling may have to take a back seat for now.

Miss Fox said: "The LSE offer is an amazing opportunity that I still intend to continue with.

"However, the bootcamp has opened up a whole other world.

"Modelling is definitely something that I would like to do, if not full time then on the side to support my studies."

Elite Model Look runs competitions in more than 60 countries, in which 350,000 candidates take part.
