A HOMOPHOBIC spat on a Dartford train travelling through Bexley spilled over onto the platform at London Bridge.

The British Transport Police are appealing for information after a number of passengers were assaulted and verbally abused on the Charing Cross to Dartford service on July 14.

Two men have been arrested in connection with the incident and have been released on bail pending further enquiries until September.

PC Alexandra O’Leary said: "A group of men were travelling on the 9.50pm Charing Cross to Dartford service and were being loud and using foul language.

"A passenger on the train asked the men to be quiet, but in return, was threatened and assaulted. Another two passengers were subjected to homophobic threats and comments.

"We believe other people travelling on the service may have been threatened by these men, and that another passenger may have been assaulted during this incident."

At London Bridge the incident spilled over onto the platform and two of the men were arrested on suspicion of affray.
