A CHARLTON charity for disabled riders will be supported by a branch of Sainsbury's, the supermarket has announced.

Charlton Park Riding for the Disabled Association has been voted as the chosen charity by customers of the Bugsby's Way store.

The charity, which has horses and ponies that provide therapy, achievement and enjoyment to people with disabilities, will now receive a year's worth of fundraising from the branch.

Money will be used to support the stables' upkeep and buy new equipment.

Carol Kendall from the charity said: "We know the success that the local charity partnership has bought to many charities in Greenwich so when we received the recent phone-call to tell us the news, we were thrilled.

"The exposure and support is going to be massively beneficial to our charity and I’d like to thank every Sainsbury’s Greenwich customer who voted."
