A scout group got hands on support from a Duke and Duchess to give its headquarters some much needed improvements.

Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester with their household staff, visited Tottenham Scout Headquarters in Bruce Grove on Tuesday.

The royal visitors made repairs to the HQ, paint some of the interior and removed weeds and rubbish from the outside the building, home to 4th Wood Green Scouts and Tottenham Explorer Scouts.

Representative Deputy Lieutenant for Haringey, Rosemary Warne MBE helped organise the visit and also attended the day of work.

She said: “I was delighted to be able to work with Their Royal Highnesses and household on such a worthwhile project. Many thanks are due to them for taking on the 4th Wood Green as a cause”.

Group scout leader John Walker said: “Tottenham Scouts are very grateful to The Duke and Duchess and their household for the help they have given the young people of Tottenham today.

“Scouting relies on volunteers and the chance to work with others for a good cause whilst having fun is something that Scouting volunteers experience daily.”

After carrying out the work The Duke and Duchess met with beaver and cub scouts who use the centre and were presented with a group scarf and commemorative badge.
