A Reigate school pupil has shown she is in a class of her own – in the pool!

Thirteen-year-old Zoe Cawsey, who goes to the Royal Alexandra and Albert School, has picked up a crop of medals in swimming competitions in recent weeks.

Zoe is a member of Redhill and Reigate Swimming Club and recently competed in the club championships.  She won gold medals for her age group for the 200 metre individual medley and the 50 metre backstroke.  She also won a cup in the 400 metre individual medley event.  These wins followed on from a strong performance at the Atlantis Swimming Club Open Meet, in which Zoe finished sixth over-all out of 220 girls from all over the South-east.

Zoe said “I train four times a week and I am in the youth squad for my club.  “I hope to represent Surrey next year and my long-term ambition is to swim in the Olympics.”

Zoe's PE teacher, Paul Washer, said: “Zoe is an excellent sportswoman. “She performs highly in most sports but excels in the pool. “During PE swimming lessons she is often given completely different tasks from other pupils as she is way above the level we would expect from a Year 8.”

He said: “I am delighted that she is being rewarded for all of her hard work and training and I am sure she is only going to get better.”
