A FORMER Dartford Cricket Club captain has been jailed after a jury convicted him of rape.

Jeremy Dassrath, 30, of Ribblesdale Road, Dartford, was jailed for a total of seven years and six months when he was sentenced at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Monday.

Following a five-week trial, Dassrath was found guilty of two counts of rape between June and September in 2011.

He was also found guilty of two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm as well as three further sexual assaults.

It took jurors six hours and 25 minutes to convict Dassrath, who had denied all the charges.

The Dartford Cricket Club newsletter says Dassrath took over as club captain in March 2011.

He is no longer listed on the website as captain.
