A serial drug dealer who was caught with his supply of heroin and cannabis stashed between his buttocks has been jailed for more than five years.

David Mark Swaby, 31, from Tooting Bec Road, Tooting, was imprisoned for five years and eight months at Inner London Crown Court this morning.

He was arrested on December 11, 2012, after the car he was riding in was stopped driving erratically in Clapham Road, just yards from the headquarters of the Met Police's Territorial Support Group (TSG) in Larkhall Lane.

Although a passenger, Swaby was initially arrested for being wanted on recall to prison for possession of a firearm and ammunition.

He was taken to Kennington Police Station where a search revealed that he was hiding 22 wraps of heroin (65 per cent purity, 3.38g) and a wrap of cannabis (1.31g) between his buttocks.

In interview Swaby claimed the drugs were for his personal use as pain relief but once charged with drug dealing rather than just possession, he admitted intent to supply.

Swaby pleaded guilty to charges of possession with intent to supply heroin and possession of cannabis.

Detective Constable Chris Stewart, of Lambeth police said: "This is a substantial sentence because it is the third time Swaby has been convicted of possession with intent to supply a class A drug.

"He now has time to think about how he can change his lifestyle and I hope he uses the time productively to gain qualifications and lead a more positive life on his release in 2016.

"Drug dealing funds other criminal behaviour and activity."
