Hundreds of singing students will take to the Rose Theatre stage in the Kingston Festival of Primary School Choirs this month.

The three day event boasts choirs from schools all over the borough, including Tiffin School whose boys sang on the Hobbit soundtrack last year.

Simon Toyne, head of music and assistant head at the school, says: "Every primary school in Kingston will be fielding a choir. In some cases, this will be the first time that their choir has appeared in public.

"I’m looking forward to conducting over 1000 kids."

The celebratory choir programme has been funded by Kingston Council and delivered in partnership with the Tiffin School, Kingston Music Service and the Voices Foundation.

Sarah Lee, head of Kingston Music Service, says: "We are excited to bring together all of our primary choirs for the festival and celebrate the successes of the programme.

"We have some talented young singers within our borough so it is a wonderful opportunity to showcase their work."
