Campaigners marched through Waltham Forest in protest against the government’s ‘bedroom tax’ last weekend.
A group of around 20 people carrying placards and walked from Leytonstone to Walthamstow Town Square on Saturday to demonstrate against the proposals.
Under the changes, those living claiming housing benefit are having some of their payments cut if they are judged to have "spare" rooms.
The government says the changes will help reduce the welfare bill and cut the number of under-occupied homes, but critics say the measures will push vulnerable people into greater poverty.
Protesters gathered at Walthamstow Town Square to hear speeches from people who would be affected by the changes, as well as representatives from Waltham Forest Trades Council and Waltham Forest Benefits Justice Campaign.
Leyton MP John Cryer claims the changes will hit 733 households in his constituency.
He pointed to National Housing Federation figures to suggest each of those households stands to lose an average of £728 from the reforms.
