A GREEN plaque was unveiled in Ealing this week to honour the late organ builder John Compton.
Family members gathered outside his former home in Audley Road to honour Mr Compton for his work in building organs that are still used today.
They had to wait almost 10 years for the seal of approval from English Heritage.
Since he began the John Compton organ company, 261 organs were installed in cinemas and theatres throughout the UK. Mr Compton is particularly known for the organ still in place at the Odeon Cinema, Leicester Square.
The commemorative plaque has the support of Ealing Council, which stepped in to provide the £600 needed for it to be displayed.
