A 49-year-old grandmother who had breast cancer has opted for the shorter 10-mile Pinkribbon Walk.

The walk, which will begin in Marble Hill Park, is designed to raise awareness about the disease and give something back to people affected.

Theresa Walsh, from Hounslow, visited her GP in August after experiencing a pain in her breast while playing with her granddaughter.

The mum-of-three’s final chemotherapy treatment was completed in February and she returned to her job at Heathrow on April 18.

The walk is set to take place on June 16, and will run through several surrounding areas, including Ham and Richmond.

Mrs Walsh will be joined at the event by her daughter, niece, and several close friends eager to support her along the route.

She said: “I’m really looking forward to it now. It’s going to be a great day. I think it’s time I did something to give back to those people who have helped and supported me along the way.”
