Jazz production Miles Ahead to get audiences singing along in one off show in Fairfield Halls Croydon

Miles Ahead, a show by jazz theatre company Body of People, are coming to Croydon for a one off performance.

The first part of the show, Footprints In Jazz, is a combination of different stories brought to life by original compositions and energetic dancing.

The second half, Touches of Miles, pays homage to the life and work of famous US jazz musician Miles Davies.

The performance includes eight dancers and seven jazz musicians.

Body of People (BOP) is one of the UK’s only jazz theatre companies and is run by Dollie Henry and Paul Jenkins.

The couple, both 50 and from Sutton, have toured the world dancing, singing and choreographing in countries such as South Africa, Sweden, Spain, Lithuania and the USA.

Jenkins, the show’s musical director and composer, has been a jazz musician for 28 years having worked numerous pop artists, film companies, theatre directors and jazz musicians to create compositions and musical sound-scapes.

Henry, the director and choreographer for the show, started BOP in 1996.

She has gone on to have an impressive 28 year career in creative jazz, dance and theatre.

She has worked with former Strictly Come Dancing judge Arlene Philips, choreographed opera and ballet productions and starred in films and musicals.

Henry says: "We are so excited to share our love of jazz as an art and produce something that is unique.

"We will be bringing dance and live music together with a narrative to create a very entertaining show.

"Because it is so varied it will be open to everyone. Whether you’re 80 years old or 3 years old, you will love it - anyone that enjoys theatre will."
