A surgeon is to stand trial for allegedly sexually assaulting a female patient in a hospital car park.
Puthur Rajaraman Damodaran, 41, pleaded not guilty to sexually assaulting a 24-year-old woman last July in the car park of Leatherhead Hospital, in Poplar Road.
South East Surrey Magistrates’ Court heard on Tuesday that, after examining the woman during a pre-arranged appointment relating to her back problem, the orthopaedic surgeon allegedly followed her to her car assaulted her inside it.
Mr Damodaran, from Horley, who is listed on the fellows and members list of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, appeared in court clean-shaven, in a shirt, suit jacket and khaki-coloured trousers.
He was released on conditional bail and will reappear at the court in May for the case to be committed to crown court.
