Status Quo legend teaches tricks of the trade in Hampton
Status Quo’s bass guitarist helped budding musicians improve their skills at a charity event.
John Edwards took part in the national learn to play day hosted by music tuition and recording studios Hillsound, in Hampton Hill High Street, on Saturday, March 16.
The music shop was one of 80 across the country taking part in the initiative run by Music for All that encourages more people to learn an instrument.
The rocker helped in more than 60 sessions at the studios throughout the day, for people aged from five to past retirement age on the guitar, piano, saxophone, ukulele and drums.
He said: “Music has given me a great career, a great life - it’s not just for the chosen few - just play, get out and play with other people as often as you can, that’s how you will improve beyond practising in your room."
Owner of Hillsound Leonard Lamprell said it was brilliant day.
He said: “There are no limits on who can learn and when. We are all capable of learning complex tasks from driving a car to speaking language so there is no reason why the ability to play and enjoy an instrument shouldn’t be available to everyone.”
