Lewisham rolls out drink and drugs bus

A MOVING drink and drugs advice bus will be roaming the streets of Lewisham doling out information and help.

The mobile bus aims to take alcohol and drug support services directly into the community and will stop off across the borough.

Residents with substance misuse issues, and those concerned for sufferers, can find out about access to services, as well as enabling agencies to make referrals.

Support teams on board include Lewisham Council’s drug and alcohol and community safety services, community mental health and Safer Neighbourhood teams, and homeless housing charities Thames Reach and St Mungo’s.

Lewisham Council Cabinet Member for Community Safety Councillor Janet Daby said: “Sometimes people simply don’t know where to find the support service that they need.

"The mobile bus is a great way for us to take information about the support and services directly into the community; enabling people to get access to the advice and help they need.”

For information about where and when the bus will be visiting, call the Neighbourhood Community Safety Central Team on 020 8314 7531.
