Travelodge targets five more hotels in Richmond
Travelodge is on the hunt for five sites in the borough to open new hotels.
The budget hotel chain hopes to set up new venues in Barnes, East Sheen, Hampton Court, Kew and Mortlake as part of its plans for another 145 hotels across London.
The company said if it was successful in finding suitable locations in Richmond 120 jobs could be created and £12m generated for the local economy.
Travelodge already has hotels in Teddington and Twickenham.
Grant Hearn, chief executive of Travelodge Hotels, said: “Our two existing hotels in Richmond perform strongly all year round. Whether it be business travellers, leisure customers or families coming to visit loved ones, we are regularly achieving high occupancy levels.
“It is clear that the outer London Boroughs have a lack of good quality, affordable hotel accommodation.
“Many have large employment clusters and impressive regeneration proposals yet have an undersupply of hotel rooms.
“Our target locations in Richmond are all suitable for a Travelodge hotel and we hope to be able to make further announcements about specific sites soon.”
