TEACHERS and students at a Bexleyheath school celebrated World Book Day in style by dressing up as their favourite fictional characters.
From Oompa Loompas to Captain Hook and even Tweedledum and Tweedledee, the whole community at Townley Grammar School embraced the literary occasion.
The girls took the opportunity to discuss the outfit they chose and many were inspired to re-read their favourite books.
School librarian Maria Fernandez said: “Encouraging students to dress up in literary style has made many think about the books and stories they have loved and would like to read about.
“I loved there was such variety in the characters that appeared, from classic Potter characters and fairytales to manga, mythology and comic book characters.
“This is the first year we have asked the whole school to come in fancy dress - pupils and staff threw themselves into this event wholeheartedly and made it a complete success.”
Townley Grammar School, in Townley Road, teaches 1,500 girls aged between 11 and 18.
