West Kingsdown dog owner 'beyond furious' at twin German Shepherd theft
11:58am Monday 11th March 2013 in News By Tim MacFarlan, Bexley and north Kent reporter
Victor and Tegan's theft has left the Mace family "heartbroken".
THE owner of brother and sister dogs stolen from her back garden in West Kingsdown says she is "beyond furious".
Julie Mace, 46, let German Shepherds Victor and Tegan out to play in the back garden of their Crowhurst Lane home at around 7pm on the evening of February 24.
But when she went out to check on them around an hour later, she found tanned Victor and his black sibling were missing while part of the garden fence had been broken down.
The desperate dog lover reported the theft to police and has put up posters and leafleted homes around the Crayford, Dartford, Riverhead and Seven Mile Lane areas.
The Mace family have offered a "substantial" reward for the return of the 20-month-old pooches - born in a litter of nine - but they remain missing.
The mother-of-two says Tegan and her brother made "a horrible time less horrible" when they were born the day her dad David Austin died aged 69 in Darent Valley Hospital on July 12, 2011.
She said: "As my dad passed my husband Russell called me at the hospital to tell me we had had puppies.
"It was literally minutes apart."
The company secretary added: "It’s gone beyond being furious; I’m just heartbroken.
"These are living, feeling things and they matter because we love them.
"A piece of property can be replaced and an animal may not mean a great deal but for us they do."
Mrs Mace says her children Brooke, 22, and Danny, 19, have been left "devastated" by the loss and the whole family has been left feeling much less secure in their home.
She said: "It’s awful because at the end of the day this is our home and it makes us feel very vulnerable and ultimately very uncomfortable."
