A football match turned sour after a man's jaw was broken by a punch in the face, a court heard.
Adam Holgate, 42, of Waterfield Green, Tadworth, is charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm on the man, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, after a match between Horley and Epsom and Ewell under-17 teams in January.
Mr Holgate appeared yesterday (March 8) at South East Surrey Magistrates’ Court, in Redhill. He will enter a plea Guildford Crown Court, on a date to be decided.
The victim was taken to hospital after the match in Thornton Close, Horley, on January 13. He has had a metal plate inserted into his mouth as a result of a broken jaw.
Mr Holgate was bailed until May 8 on the condition that he does not attend an under-17s Epsom and Ewell game or contact the victim.
