Man accused of murdering Tia Sharp to appear in court today

The man accused of murdering schoolgirl Tia Sharp is appearing at the Old Bailey today.

Stuart Hazell is attending his plea and case management hearing this morning.

He was last in court in January where he was remanded in custody. He appeared via video link from Belmarsh Prison.

The 37-year-old is charged with murdering the schoolgirl between August 2 and August 11 last year.

The 12-year-old's body was found in the loft of her grandmother's New Addington home a week after she was reported missing.

A trial date has been set for May 7.
