Police took to Twitter to reconstruct an armed robbery outside a Co-Op in Epsom in January.

Last Friday, a month on from the robbery, police held a ‘Tweconstruction’ in a bid to find witnesses.

A robber pistol-whipped a cash delivery worker and stolen a cashbox containing £45,000 in Tattenham Corner on January 30.

Surrey Police’s Twitter account sent Tweets describing what happened in real time on the one month anniversary of the robbery.

The Tweconstruction reached over 53,000 Twitter users, had over 2,000 views on Facebook and over 350 page views on social network Storify.

Detective Sergeant Oana King from Epsom CID said: "Detectives have been working closely with the communications team to scope new and interesting ideas around utilising the media when it comes to investigations.

"Operation Jadeite is an ongoing investigation and we believe there are still people out there who have information which may assist us with our investigation.

"Due to the amount of images we had available we believed this would be an excellent way to reach those people who may not have previously known about the incident."

If you have any information on the cash-in-transit robbery call 101 quoting Operation Jadeite.
