Residents urged to attend council planning meeting on KFC

The second Organ and Dragon planning application will be considered by Epsom Council on March 14 The second Organ and Dragon planning application will be considered by Epsom Council on March 14

Residents are being urged to attend a meeting of Epsom Council’s planning committee where KFC’s second application to turn a historic Ewell pub into a fast-food restaurant and takeaway will be considered.

The fast food giant has submitted another planning application to turn the Organ and Dragon, which used to be a pub and Thai restaurant, in London Road, Ewell, into a KFC, after its first application was rejected by councillors in December on highway safety grounds.

Elaine Jury, who has led a residents’ petition against the application for a KFC takeaway, said as many as residents as possible should attend the meeting to show the strength of feeling against the application.

The planning application will be considered next Thursday, March 14, at Epsom town hall at 7.30pm.

I have an up to date picture if you want to use it!

complete with Christmas tree graffiti, run down caravan, fly tipping, etc...

all this mess wouldn't of happened if KFC had the building by now.

your area is a mess and KFC wants to bring money to the area and jobs, y'all should be ashamed!

Happy to live by a pub but not a KFC.

What's the problem?

I bet all these do gooders are quite happy tovisit KFC and other fast food outlets near other peoples homes.

Would you like some more big ugly flats built instead with even more cars and parking problems?

A very poor article that fails to state why residents should attend the meeting to show strong feeling against the application.

Maybe just the ususal poor journalism we've come to expect or perhaps there are no good reasons to oppose the application.

When they changed the failing pub in Egham into a successful Burger King we noticed no major changes in traffic, noise or smells. In fact without the alcohol and outside seating it's better than before. It's directly on a busy junction of the M25 next to a difficult roundabout.

The Organ and Dragon is on a crossroads strictly controlled by traffic lights, so I'm not convinced of the road-safety arguments I've seen in other comments.

Also, I'm sure that most of the customers will be among the thousands of drivers who already pass through this crossing every day. I think other drivers are unlikely to divert to this branch of KFC because of the hassle of getting caught up in traffic from the A3.
