A YOUNG man has appeared at crown court in connection with the fatal shooting of Kevin McKinley in Dartford.

Father-of-three McKinley, 32, died after being shot in Fulwich Road on February 12.

Lewis Wickenden, of Overy Street, Dartford, appeared at Maidstone Crown Court on Friday (March 1) charged with possessing a firearm, namely a semi-automatic single-barrel shotgun and possession of ammunition, namely shotgun carriages, both without firearms certificates.

The 25-year-old also faced a charge of assisting an offender.

A date is yet to be set for his next hearing where he is expected to enter a plea.

Wickenden’s partner Michaela Sargeant, 24, of the same address, has been charged with the murder of Mr McKinley.

She appeared at Maidstone Crown Court on Tuesday, February 17, and was remanded in custody to appear at the same court on April 19 for a plea and case management hearing.

A provisional trial date has also been set for August 5.

Neither Wickenden nor Sargeant have entered a plea.

Emergency services were called to Overy Street at shortly before 8pm on Tuesday, February 12 and found Mr McKinley with a gunshot wound.

The victim had gone into cardiac arrest and was treated by ambulance staff at the scene before being taken to Darent Valley Hospital where he died of his injuries.
