WOULD be crime-fighters in north Kent can apply for one of 60 new vacancies as Police Community Support Officers.

The roles have a starting annual salary of £18,000 and successful applicants will need to pass a fitness test, medical assessment and appropriate vetting checks.

Kent Police say the role is vital to keeping the county safe by providing a high-visibility presence, reassuring the public and assisting in the prevention and reduction of crime and anti-social behaviour.

Kent Police Chief Constable Ian Learmonth said: "If you are interested in serving the people of Kent and working in a very practical way with police officers to help beat crime, then we would like to hear from you.

“I see real value in the work that they do and the community consistently tell me they value the work of their local PCSOs.

"Kent is one of the safest places to live in the country and these new additions to the Kent Police family will help ensure we keep it that way.”

The closing date for applications is March 4 with new roles starting in May and June.
