Budding sport stars can take their first step to sporting stardom by being part of Team Elmbridge at the P&G Surrey Youth Games.

The games are an annual, multi-sport event where 11 boroughs from Surrey compete against each other for trophies in a variety of sports, including disability sports.

Clubs and coaches running the borough’s free trials will be looking for youngsters to make up Team Elmbridge’s training squads and successful participants will then represent the borough.

Councillor Jan Fuller, portfolio holder for leisure and cultural services, said: “The P&G Surrey Youth Games is a fantastic event for youngsters to be involved in. It is a great introduction to sports competition and enables participants to learn or develop skills in an amazing and fun atmosphere.

“Elmbridge has done very well in the games in the past few years and I am sure Team Elmbridge will repeat their great achievements this year.”

Children aged between seven and 16 can take part in trials start from Monday, April 22, and continuing throughout May 2013 until the P&G Surrey Youth Games on Saturday and Sunday June 15 and 16 at the Surrey Sports Park in Guildford.

Trial sessions will be held at locations across the borough, including Xcel Leisure Complex, Hinchley Wood School and Walton Lawn Tennis Club.
