OLLY Murs and Muse were forced to take the Tube to the Brits at The O2 last night to avoid queueing traffic on the Greenwich peninsula.

The music stars, travelling into Greenwich for the annual back-slapping showbiz event, joined other punters on the Jubilee line to reach the venue in time.

They follow in the footsteps of scantily-clad R'n'B superstar Rhianna who took the Underground to a Drake concert at the arena last year.

Olly Murs wrote to fans on his Twitter account: "That was bonkers!! Did a Rihanna tonight and got the tube to the @BRITAwards the traffic was NUTS!! #nowneedatoilet"

Prog rockers Muse, who were performing at the event, treated Twitter followers to cheeky snaps from their journey, while Simon Pegg, star of Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead, was left fuming in the traffic, writing: "It's actually harder to get to the Brits in a car than it is to get f***ing nominated. #roadrage"

Lily Allen also complained about the traffic while ladies' favourite Justin Timberlake chose to travel by boat instead.

Though The O2 has been a staggering success since it was transformed into a world-famous music venue, road delays have been a common complaint, especially due to the proximity of the disruption-prone Blackwall Tunnel.

Last month, venue owners AEG joined Greenwich Council in backing Boris Johnson's plan for another tunnel on the peninsula, linking it with Silvertown across the river.

General manager Rebecca Kane said: "Congestion at the Blackwall Tunnel has been an inherent problem for our customers, tenants and partners. AEG strongly supports the proposal for a tunnel crossing at Silvertown and a bridge at Gallions Reach.

"This will provide much needed relief to the area, support AEG’s next development phases on the Greenwich Peninsula and indeed stimulate similar growth on both sides of the river."

But campaigners claim a second tunnel would just make traffic worse and create even more pollution at a site where the building of a further 506 new homes is being considered by a planning board next week.
