Ladywell teenager stabbing: Three boys remain in custody
THREE teenagers remain in custody after a 14-year-old boy was stabbed in Ladywell on Monday night (February 18).
Police were called to reports of a stabbing in Dressington Avenue at about 9.30pm that night and found the victim suffering from serious injuries.
Youth workers who were nearby at the time of the incident did emergency first aid before the London Ambulance Service arrived.
He was taken to a south London hospital where he remains in a critical but stable condition.
A boy, aged 14, was arrested in connection with the stabbing by officers in the early hours of yesterday morning (February 19).
Two other boys, aged 14 and 15, have also been arrested in connection with the incident after they went to a south London police station in the morning and afternoon respectively.
Lewisham borough commander Chief Superintendent Russell Nyman said: "I am committed to tackling the issues of serious youth violence and knife crime in Lewisham.
“Currently knife crime and serious youth violence are down in Lewisham but we are not complacent and we continue to work with our partners to ensure Lewisham remains a safe borough.”
"In response to the incident we have put extra resources in place in key locations across the borough, in order to prevent any further offences from occurring.
“Patrols are also taking place in order to reassure residents that Lewisham remains a safe place."
