Video: Greenwich traders' pancake race around Old Royal Naval College
GREENWICH businesses had stacks of fun yesterday with a pancake race around the Old Royal Naval College.
The flippin’ pantastic event saw teams relay around the grounds while tossing their creations to raise funds for Greenwich and Bexley Community Hospice.
Mayor of Greenwich Councillor David Grant led a commentary on the race and staff from Greenwich’s Zizzi’s scooped the prize of a trophy frying pan.
A pancake eating competition also took place with all floury fun provided by Mini Dutch Dippers who trade at Greenwich Market from Tuesday to Thursday.
Community fundraising manager for the hospice – which provides free care for adults with life-limiting illnesses as well as support for their family and carers - Stephanie Fuller said: “Everyone was in great spirit.”
Race sponsor Danny Bastone, from Creekside Design to Print ltd, added: "It was great fun taking part in the pancake race, unfortunately we never won, but it's the taking part that counts!
“It was great to be a part of it and to support such a good local cause."
