More than 100 young people will celebrate the Big Festival at Strawberry Hill House this month, joining 3,000 other youngsters across the country.

The gothic castle will host a fancy dress party, with a music and drama theme, and music from African Boy, to raise money for the YMCA.

They will join forces with 20 other festivals across the country as part of a national event on Friday, February 22.

The event is organised by the Challenge Richmond and Kingston Youth Board, who are challenge graduates who have met in their spare time to create a community spirited festival for their team-mates and friends.

Youth board member, Reem Farouk, said: “What can be better than a gothic castle to host the evening.”

The Challenge Society is a year-round programme that engages young people in community action and signposts them towards personal development opportunities, clubs, associations and volunteering.

The Big Festival takes place at Strawberry Hill House in Waldegrave Road, Twickenham, on February 28, from 6pm to 10pm.
