One of the UK's most promising singer-songwriters will be performing an intimate one-off gig in Kingston on Valentine's Day.

Chart-topper Gabrielle Aplin will be at Banquet Records in Eden Street next Thursday, for an exclusive show in support of her new single.

The 20-year-old rose to prominence last year with her cover of Frankie Goes to Hollywood's the Power of Love, which featured on John Lewis' Christmas campaign and went to number one in the charts.

Her self-penned follow-up single, Please Don’t Say You Love Me, is released next week and promises to establish the Wiltshire-born musician as one of the country’s newest and brightest talents.

Her debut album, English Rain, is due for release in April.

Banquet Records manager Jon Tolley said: “We had Gabriel lined up to play instore towards the end of last year but with her massive rise to fame, and chart success with the Power Of Love we had to shelve that until a later date. “We’re happy she’s honoured the idea of coming to play the shop with a real intimate performance so fans can see her play and pick up the new album at the same time. “You won’t get to see her in such a small place as this, so make sure you get to it.”
