1:32pm Friday 8th February 2013 in News By Robert Fisk and Alan Woods
A GRANDMOTHER is in intensive care after being hit by a car while she was with her grandchild in Petts Wood earlier this afternoon (February 8).
The woman, who is in her 60s, is said to have a light bleed on the brain and is in Kings College Hospital, Denmark Hill.
She was knocked to the ground by a grey VW Sharan which was reversing in Station Square near The Daylight Inn and Sainsbury’s supermarket.
Her two-year-old grandchild was also taken to hospital following the incident in Station Square which happened at around noon but has since been released.
Police cordoned off the road for around three-and-a-half hours while they were investigating what happened.
A baby’s buggy could be seen inside the cordon where the incident happened and blankets were strewn on the floor nearby.
According to a Bromley police spokesman the baby was not in the buggy at the time of the collision.
Priya Patel, a trainee dispenser at Farrants Pharmacy in Station Square, said: “A customer said a guy was reversing out and he hit the buggy and an old lady.
“I was told that the granny could not remember her name or the baby’s name.”
A second witness, who does not wish to be named, says she saw a pensioner lying on the floor by the car.
Around 15 police officers were at the scene along with two ambulances.
The driver of the VW Sharan stopped at the scene.
There have been no arrests and enquiries continue.

Typical ignorant armchair critic comment from embz21.So many police attended initially because it was a serious incident.I'm sure they thinned out later leaving it to the expert traffic officers to secure the scene.Next time you get run over i'll just send a PCSO along for a couple of minutes.
