Six people were arrested in dawn raids as part of a crackdown on crime yesterday.

Police raided three properties in Epsom and Ewell resulting in the arrest of four teenagers and a woman on suspicion of drug offences.

Another man in his 20s was also arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods with all arrests made at two properties.

The arrested man, two 18-year-old teenage girls, a 19-year-old teenage boy and a 38-year-old woman have been released on police bail until March.

The operation followed months of intelligence gathering by detectives on people suspected of being involved in drug dealing and burglaries.

Early yesterday an investigation team, neighbourhood team and search teams together executed three warrants in a bid to crack down on crime.

Detective Constable Julie Daubeney, from East Surrey Proactive Investigation Team, said:"I hope these warrants send a clear message to criminals that we will relentlessly pursue those who we suspect of being involved in crime to keep Surrey a safe and secure place to live and visit.

"Drug misuse does not just effect the individual involved but the community as a whole as the user will usually steal from people or burgle properties to fund their habit and this is a vicious circle which we hope break by carrying out warrants like these."

Epsom and Ewell Neighbourhood Inspector Craig Knight said: "I would urge anyone who has concerns about drug dealing or misuse in their area to contact the safer neighbourhood team who will address these concerns and take appropriate action."

Anyone with concerns should contact their Safer Neighbourhood Team on 101 or visit www.surrey.police.uk.
