A company director from Cobham has been summoned to appear in court after the death of an 11-year-old in 2010.

Director of the Princes Sporting Club, Frederick Glen Walker, 49, of Philpot Lane, was summonsed on Thursday, January 31, for alleged offences under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.

The club itself was summonsed on Tuesday, January 29, on charges of corporate manslaughter, under the Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act 2007 and Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.

Mari-Simon Cronje was at a children’s birthday party at the sports club and was part of a group riding the inflatable banana boat ride.

Mari-Simon fell into the water and was hit by the propeller of the boat towing the inflatable.

Mr Walker and the company will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on February 19.
