Two men have been charged following an investigation into sex trafficking into the UK.

Attila Kovacs, 32, of Highview Gardens in Southgate, and Peter Berki, whose age remains unknown, from Telford Road in Southgate, were among several arrested on Wednesday following a six-month operation by the Metropolitan Police’s Trafficking and Prostitution Unit.

Police believe hundreds of women, many of whom are from Hungary, have been trafficked into the UK and forced into prostitution after being told they would be given jobs as receptionists.

The men were charged yesterday with conspiracy to traffic persons within, and into, the United Kingdom for sexual exploitation as well as conspiracy to control prostitution for gain.

Vishal Chaudhary, 33, a UK national of Peninsula Square in Canary Wharf and Hungarian national Ibrahim Mosa, 31, of Mayes Road in Wood Green have also been charged with the same offences.

The investigation also led to early-morning raids in Barnet, Tower Hamlets, Haringey, Camden, and Bedfordshire.
