A 28-YEAR-OLD who shot Marlon Campbell was a notorious criminal who had fired shots at this ex-girlfriend's house shortly before the murder.

Dwayne Fulgence, of no fixed abode, was found guilty at the Old Bailey yesterday (January 31) of Mr Campbell's  murder as well as two counts of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger and one count of possession of ammunition.

Police had been called shortly before 9.15am on June 16 last year to reports of gunshots heard and a person injured in Lushington Road, Bellingham.

There, they found Marlon Campbell suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken by ambulance to Kings College Hospital where he died the following afternoon.

On the night of the murder the 23-year-old victim was with two other men as they argued with Fulgence.

Fulgence then produced a gun, blasting Mr Campbell once in the head before fleeing the area to his ex-girlfriend's home in nearby Oslac Road.

Prior to the killing, Fulgence had argued with his ex-girlfriend for not letting him come inside, firing up to four shots through the door and letter box in retaliation.

Detective Inspector James Gerty from the Met's Trident Gang Crime Command said: "Dwayne Fulgence is well known in the community for his criminal activities.

"The Met take offences of this nature seriously and take robust action to send a clear message to those concerned in gun crime that if they are involved, in anyway, they can expect to be identified and convicted for the offence."

He will be sentenced on February 4.
