Make your own masterpiece at Elmbridge Museum

Families are invited to get inspiration from oil paintings at Elmbridge Museum, before creating their own masterpiece.

The exhibited works feature some Elmbridge landscapes which were executed by local or visiting artists.

The paintings are among the 34 Elmbridge works of art currently published on the BBC Paintings website, which includes more than 212,000 paintings by 37,000 artists from 860 collections across the country.

Visitors can admire the oil canvasses and draw inspiration from them to create their own painting of the River Wey, before taking their creation home for everyone to admire.

Councillor Jan Fuller, portfolio holder for leisure and culture, said: “This Saturday’s Family Fun event will provide a great opportunity to see a few oil paintings from Elmbridge Museum’s collection. They are part of the local heritage and proudly feature in the BBC’s online catalogue of national works of art.

“Why not come and have a look at them and have a go at creating your own work of art. This will be a fun activity to do as a family.”

Paint the Wey is part of a series of Family Fun events held by the Elmbridge Museum in Weybridge once a month on a Saturday.
