Thamesmead dementia sufferer is missing (From This Is Local London)

The poor man. I can never understand that once a person has been diagnosed with dementia why on earth the doctor that made that diagnosis hasn't got a legal obligation to notify the DVLC and have the driving licence revoked. This man has driven his car, left it in the freezing cold weather that we have endured and heaven forbid that nothing sinister has happened to him. If this man has family I can't understand why they haven't felt an obligation to take the car in their loved ones best interest, then again, maybe he hasn't got family. The other thing to consider with driving and dementia is not only the danger to that person but to other road users, how easy it would be for the person to go the wrong way up a motorway, it's happened before and will continue to happen until doctors take on some responsibility here. I am talking from experience and know that doctors do not have a legal obligation to notify the authorities.
