MP calls for joined-up NHS services
An MP fears healthcare for people living in Enfield is being put at risk following Government changes to the NHS.
Edmonton MP Andy Love fears patients will be passed from pillar to post between hospitals and community-based care due to cuts and reforms.
He has called for better planning and joined-up services in healthcare.
He said: “High levels of deprivation and unemployment in Edmonton mean pressures on the NHS locally are likely to increase even further. That is why we need to look at ways we can do things better by joining up care pathways.
“By improving the links between services provided by the council and the hospitals, for example, we can vastly improve health outcomes for local people and make savings that enhance frontline services.”
Mr Love’s comments come after Labour announced it would build a “joined-up” NHS if the party returned to power 2015.
