Surrey Police car getting vehicle crime message across in Elmbridge
8:00am Sunday 27th January 2013 in News By Laura Proto
Working hard: Surrey Police want to get the message across
The wrapped car featured in Surrey Police’s vehicle crime campaign will be making an appearance in locations across Elmbridge.
Gone in 60 Seconds is the message behind the police force’s latest campaign, warning motorists that their vehicle and valuables could be stolen if they are not locked or removed.
The car will be parked in key vehicle crime hot spots, acting as a warning to both potential thieves and vehicle owners.
The wrapping on the car shows the inside of the vehicle with various valuables left in.
The initiative, Operation Marjoram, aims to crack down on thefts of and from vehicles.
As well as raising awareness among motorists about simple measures to avoid falling victim to opportunist thieves, the campaign is also aimed at offenders.
Other activity will also include extra patrol teams in trouble areas.
Operational activity for Operation Candlelight, Surrey Police's burglary campaign, has also been extended to run alongside activities being carried out for Operation Marjoram.
The car will be in Elmbridge on January 31 and February 1.
