PAYING off the Christmas credit card bill can be a struggle - but not for one lucky lady from Bexley.

Laraine Poole has had her £843 bill paid off after beating thousand of entrants to win a radio phone in competition.

The human resources manager, 61, had Absolute Radio on at 7am on January 8 when she heard her name called as one of just three people picked every weekday for a chance to win.

The Bourne Road resident had half an hour to ring in and claim her prize but it took her just moments to get to the phone and call the Christian O’Connell Breakfast Show.

She said: "It really made me feel happy.

"Money doesn’t make you feel happy but it was just the fact it was me.

"It was just a lovely thing to cheer me up at New Year with all this nasty weather."
