Inauguration of President Barack Obama screening at William Morris House

The inauguration of President Barack Obama is being screened in the borough.

William Morris House, in The Broadway, Wimbledon, will be showing the inauguration live on January 21.

The building is continuing to organise public meeting to celebrate radical events for people in Wimbledon to build on the legacy of William Morris, who was active in Merton.

Councillor Peter Walker, chairman of William Morris House, said: "We held a similar event four years ago when Obama was first elected and we expect this event to be equally popular.

"Obama’s victory over the climate change deniers and Mitt Romney was important not just for the USA but for people around the world concerned about the environment."

There is no charge to attend and refreshments will be on offer.
